Our Activities

We run two schools in the area. Our primary school is coeducational. Boys and girls from the age of four join the primary school and continue till class four.

The high school called Keoratala Basanabala Girls High School has classes five to ten. It is only for girls. The curriculum followed is that of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.

The students in our schools are also taught computer skills. The high school has a computer center where regular classes are held to teach computer literacy and use of popular software. The students in the primary school too are provided computer literacy at the computer center there. The very young children use tablets to get accustomed to digital media.

Girls in the high school get opportunities to participate in musical programs like singing and dancing. We encourage sports, games and yoga practices.

History

“Keoratala Krishi O Goraksha Samiti” was established in 1997, inspired by Shri Vinoba Bhave. It was initially set up to organize “The Goraksha Movement” with the help of Shri Ratan Mistri and some local well wishers.

A primary school called “Keoratala Sarbodaya Shishu Shiksha Niketan” was started for the young children of the locality in year 2000. Later in year 2002, a girls’ school named “Keoratala Basanabala Girls’ High School” was established with the initiative of “The Bhowanipur Gujarati Education Society ” especially Shri Jethalal Shah and Shri Ramesh Bhai Shah at a cost of Rupees 40 Lacs. Shri Ratan Mistri and Shri Gorachand Bhowmick donated 1 bigha of land to establish this school. It is the one and only girls’ school in this locality. The schools are run by “Keoratala School Sahajogita Samiti” and are in need of financial support.
